Hurricane Season is upon us...

Residents are always encouraged to be prepared during hurricane season by updating their family's disaster plan and restocking their family disaster kit.
Disaster supplies should include: One gallon of water per person for five days, enough non-perishable food items for five days, manual can opener, flashlight and batteries, battery-operated NOAA weather radio, AM/FM radio, infant and senior citzens necessities, one month's supply of medication, basic toiletries, blankets, pillows, sleeping bags, garbage bags, resealable plastic bags, extra clothing, rain gear, a list of important phone numbers including the family's local pharmacy, doctors and designated contacts the family can call in case of emergency, disposable camera to record damage to property, waterproof bag of important papers such as insurance, bank account and social security cards, and a first aid kit. If the family has pets, it is recommended to keep pet supplies on hand to include: food, water, registration records, medications, proof of vaccination, leash and collar.
Sandbags are available for residents at 3 county fire stations. Residents need to bring their own shovels. Sandbags are limited to 20 per household.

In the event of a hurricane, 3,000 sand bags will also be available at the City of Clermont Public Services facility located at 400 12th Street (10 bag limit per home). Shovels and assistance will be available. For more information, contact City of Clermont Public Services at (352) 394-3350.
Hurricane aftermath - Ice, water, and food distribution center will be at the Clermont Regional Center located at State Road 50 and Grand Highway.
